Tree Removal · Goldsboro & Eastern NC

Tree removal that leaves nothing behind but lawn.

Some trees have to go. They're dead, leaning toward the house, split by a storm, or simply in the way of what you want to build. We take them down piece by piece with our own bucket truck, so nothing drops where it shouldn't, and we haul every bit of it away.

We've been removing trees around Goldsboro, Pikeville and Wayne County since 1996. Big pines over roofs, oaks between two houses, trees wrapped around fences: these are the jobs we're set up for.

When a tree should come down

Not every problem tree needs removing, and we'll tell you if a good trim would do the job instead. But these are the signs that usually mean it's time:

The tree is dead or mostly dead, with bare branches in the growing season, bark falling off in sheets, or mushrooms growing at the base. It's leaning more than it used to, or the soil is heaving up on one side of the root plate. There are deep cracks or cavities in the trunk, or a large split where two main stems meet. Or it's simply too close to the house, the driveway or a septic field, and every storm season makes you nervous.

In Eastern North Carolina the big one is storms. A tall pine or a hollow water oak that's fine on a calm day can come down on a roof in a hurricane or ice storm. Taking it down on your schedule costs far less than dealing with it after it falls.

How we take a tree down safely

Open-yard trees can often be felled in one piece. Most trees in a residential yard can't, so we take them down in sections from the top. Our bucket truck puts the cutter right up in the canopy without anyone climbing the tree, and limbs and trunk sections are lowered or dropped into a planned landing zone, away from the house, fences and gardens.

Once it's on the ground, the chipper takes the brush and the loader moves the heavy wood without rutting your lawn. Good hardwood often goes back to our yard to become firewood, so less of your tree ends up in a landfill.

Trees near houses and power lines

Tight spots are where experience matters most. We plan every cut before we start: where each piece will land, what's underneath it, and how it gets out of the yard.

If a tree is touching or tangled in the power lines running to your house or along the street, the utility company has to make that part safe first. We'll help you figure out who to call and take care of everything once the lines are clear.

Cleanup is part of the job

Our price includes hauling away the wood and brush and raking the area. Stump grinding can be included in the same visit. Most people want it, and it's much cheaper to do while we're already there. If you'd like to keep some of the wood for your own firewood, tell us and we'll cut it to length and stack it where you want it.

What’s included

  • Free on-site estimate with a clear price
  • Sectional removal from our bucket truck
  • Brush chipped on site
  • Wood hauled away, or cut and stacked if you want it
  • Stump grinding available in the same visit
  • Yard raked and cleaned up

What affects the price

Every job is priced on site, for free. These are the things that move the number, so you know what we’re looking at when we walk your yard.

Size of the tree

Height and trunk diameter decide how many cuts, how much wood and how long the job takes.

What's around it

An open yard is quick. A tree over a roof, pool or power drop needs sectional work and more care.

Access

Whether the bucket truck and loader can reach it, or it needs to be carried out by hand.

Condition

Dead, rotten or storm-damaged wood is less predictable and has to be handled more carefully.

Stump and cleanup

Grinding the stump and hauling everything away are usually in the price. Keeping the wood can bring it down.

Several trees at once

Doing multiple trees in one visit is almost always cheaper per tree.

How much does tree removal cost?

It depends mostly on size, what's around the tree and how easy it is to reach. A small tree in an open yard costs a fraction of a large oak leaning over a house. We give you a firm price at a free on-site estimate, and can often give a ballpark from a few photos.

Will your equipment tear up my lawn?

We plan the route in and out before we start and use the loader to carry heavy wood rather than dragging it. If the ground is soft after rain, we'll wait for it to firm up rather than rut your yard. We'll talk through anything you're worried about at the estimate.

Do I need to be home?

Not usually. As long as we can get to the tree and you've shown us what's what at the estimate, we can do the work while you're out. We'll call when we're finished.

Can you remove the stump too?

Yes. We grind stumps below ground level so you can plant grass over the spot. It's easiest and cheapest to do it in the same visit.
